The Weather Situation
Tropical depression 8 appears much more organized today compared with Wednesday. A large area of deep convection now covers the central Gulf of Mexico. The center is still not well defined and only slight to moderate strengthening is likely.

As of 7:00 AM CDT Tropical Depression 8 was centered at 20.6 N / 90.4 W or about 405 miles ESE of Port O'Connor, TX. It was moving WNW at 9 mph. Officially top sustained winds are estimated at 30 mph. Pressure was estimated at 1007 hPa (mb).

Tropical Weather Forecast:
TD 8 is expected to become a tropical storm before making landfall on the central Texas coast in a few days.

Convection expanded today on tropical depression 8. Despite this organization has not occurred. The most recent recon still has not found surface winds over 30 knots.

As of 4:00 PM CDT Tropical Depression 8 was centered at 26.1 N / 90.7 W or about 385 miles ESE of Port O'Connor, TX. It was moving WNW at 8 mph. Officially top sustained winds are estimated at 35 mph. Pressure was estimated at 1006 hPa (mb).

Hanna bringing very heavy rainfall to southern Texas soon

The Weather Situation
Recon eventually found minimal tropical storm force winds in TD 8 last night. The curent recon is finding even stronger winds, so Hanna is organizing some despite its asymmetrical shape.

As of 7:00 AM CDT Tropical Storm Hanna was centered at 27.1 N / 92.8 W or about 285 miles east of Corpus Christi, TX. It was moving WNW at 9 mph. Officially top sustained winds are estimated at 40 mph. Pressure was estimated at 1001 hPa (mb).

Hanna is forecast to move into the south Texas coast by Saturday. Very heavy rainfall will cause flash flooding. High surf, surge and tropical storm force winds can be expected.

Despite Hanna looking better organized on satellite imagery, radar has clearly indicated the the structure is well organized. Recon confirmed minimal hurricane force winds this morning. Hanna will make landfall today bringing surge, hurricane force winds and flooding rainfall.

As of 8:00 AM CDT Hurricane Hanna was centered at 27.1 N / 96.1 W or about 95 miles ESE of Corpus Christi, TX. It was moving west at 8 mph. Officially top sustained winds are estimated at 75 mph. Pressure was estimated at 982 hPa (mb).
