Flossie

Post by Tropical Inspector »

Hurricane Flossie will move south of the big island today. Upper air winds continue to take its toll, and the eye is becoming more ragged.

Tropical storm warnings and hurricane watches contuine for the big island.
The main impact will be high surf to the southeast facing beaches (15-20 ft) and beneficial rainfall. (Hawaii is in a drought) Power could be disrupted on the southern part of the big island if some of the gusts exceed 50 mph.

Flossie is passing south of the big island. It is weakening and the strongest winds will stay offshore. Seas could reach 15-20 ft.+ on the
southeast facing beaches. Beneficial rain could be locally heavy on the big island where a flash flood watch continues.

Wednesday

Last update on Flossie. Strongest wind gust noted was 52 mph on the southern end of the big island. Flossie stayed south of the big island, so the brunt of the impacts stayed offshore.
