Hurricane Beryl
July 6, 2018
Beryl formed over 1000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles in the deep tropics. It was short lived as it was disrupted by wind shear. Officially it was classified as a minimal hurricane, although I personally beleive that it was a tropical storm. It brought some locally heavy showers to Dominica and Martinique in the Lesser Antilles.

Hurricane Chris
July 10, 2018
Chris formed from a disturbance southeast of North Carolina. It went through a rapid strengthening phase and strengthened to a category 2 hurricane as it started to move northeast away from the coast. It did not directly affect land and transformed into an extratropical cyclone over the northern North Atlantic Ocean.

Hurricane Florence
September 12, 2018
Florence with be remembered for bringing record rainfall to North Carolina and South Carolina causing disastorous flooding. It formed in the deep tropics southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands off of the coast of Africa. It went through a rapid deepening and rapid weakening phase over the open Atlantic. After moving northwest, it made a turn toward the west and rapidly strengthened again with top winds at category 4 strength.
It was predicted to move into southeast North Carolina as a major hurricane, but weakened and stall just inland as it made landfall near Wilmington, North Carolina on September 14th. Florence slowly moved southwest, then west into northern South Carolina over the near few days. Severe storm surge flooding occured on the inland rivers of southern North Carolina. Many businesses and roadways were flooded as winds pushed water upstream.

Hurricane Helene
September 10, 2018
Helene formed south of the Cabo Verde Islands and formed a very large eye. It brought heavy showers to the southern Cabo Verde Islands and turned northwest, then north well west of the Islands. It gradually lost tropical characteristics as it moved toward the Azores and interacted with tropical storm Joyce to the west.

Hurricane Isaac
September 9, 2018
Isaac formed in the deep tropics southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. It had a similar life cyle to Beryl earlier in the season. It formed into a minimal hurricane but was fighting wind shear and weakened as it approached the Lesser Antilles. Like Beryl, it brough some locally heavy showers to the Islands and weakened as it moved into the eastern Caribbean.

Hurricane Leslie
October 3, 2018
Leslie formed from an upper air disturbance into a subtropical storm in the middle of the North Atlantic. It gradually became extratropical as it interacted with a front. A few days later it became tropical again as it seperated from the front. It strengthened into a hurricane at 80 mph, before weakening again moving east remaining in the open Atlantic.

Hurricane Michael
October 10, 2018
Michael organized from a disturbance in the northwest Caribbean and was origionally not expected to strengthen significantly. It quickly deepened into a major hurricane as it moved from the Yucatan Channel to the east central Gulf of Mexico. It made landfall on the Florida panhandle on October 10th as a category 5 hurricane. After season analysis upgraded the strength from a 4 to 5. The most severe damage was concentrated near and east of Panama City. After landfall, Michael moved into south Georgia and northeastward into the Carolinas. The greatest threat after landfall was flooding rainfall.

Hurricane Oscar
October 30, 2018
Oscar formed in the middle of the North Atlantic far from land. It strengthened into a category 2 hurricane as it moved north then became extratropical.
