Victor to be officially named shortly

The Weather Situation
Satellite imagery shows banding and a large cluster of convection well south of the Cabo Verde islands. TD20 is likely to be named at 5pm edt.

Victor strengthening

The Weather Situation
Victor was officially named at 5 pm edt yesterday as expected. Convection has continued to increase as well as banding. Victor will continue on this strengthening trend the next few days.

IR satellite imagery shows that convection is decreasing. This means that the strengthening trend has ended.

Victor much weaker

Satellite imagery shows that the convection with Victor is almost gone. IMO, the official 50 mph by NHC is overdone. I estimate 40 mph max and likely less than that.
