TD 8 in slightly strengthening
The Weather Situation
Tropical depression 8 is fighting windshear. Despite this it is organized enough to be upgraded to a tropical storm soon.
Current tropical weather
As of 11:00 AM AST Tropical Depression 8 was centered at 31.3 N / 62.8 W or about 135 miles ESE of Bermudai. It was moving south at 9 mph. Officially top sustained winds are estimated at 35 mph. Pressure was estimated at 1012 hPa (mb).
Tropical Weather Forecast:
TD 8 will upgraded to a storm soon. It is predicted to move in a clockwise turn around Bermuda while only strengthening only slightly.

Henri continues to strengthening
The Weather Situation
Henri has a much improved look today. It is fighting some northwesterly wind shear, but it is expected to relax.
Current tropical weather
As of 5:00 PM AST Tropical Storm Henri was centered at 30.4 N / 64.2 W or about 135 miles SSE of Bermuda. It was moving WSW at 2 mph. Officially top sustained winds are estimated at 65 mph. Pressure was estimated at 997 hPa (mb).
Tropical Weather Forecast:
Henri has been slowly strengthening and is expected to become a hurricane. It is predicted to stay well east of the US east coast into this weekend.

Henri almost a hurricane
The Weather Situation
Henri is expected to become a hurricane soon. The water vapor imagery shows deep convection wrapped around the center and an eye trying to form.
Current tropical weather
As of 5:00 PM AST Tropical Storm Henri was centered at 29.9 N / 67.6 W or about 790 miles south of Nantucket, MA. It was moving west at 9 mph. Officially top sustained winds are estimated at 70 mph. Pressure was estimated at 995 hPa (mb).
Tropical Weather Forecast:
Forecast models have had a bit of a different solution today. A few models take Henri east of Long Island, NY this weekend and near Cape Cod Monday. This shift west is due to models now forecasting a building high pressure area to the east of Henri in several days.

Satellite imagery shows very deep convection associated with Henri on the south side of the circulation. Henri has been fighting northerly wind shear which has not allowed it to strengthen today.
Current tropical weather
As of 5:00 PM EDT Tropical Storm Henri was centered at 29.7 N / 71.4 W or about 800 miles south of Nantucket, MA. It was moving west at 10 mph. Officially top sustained winds are estimated at 65 mph. Pressure was estimated at 997 hPa (mb).

Forecast models continue to bring Henri near Cape Cod Later Sunday. A small change can make a huge difference in the impacts seen.

The Weather Situation
The heaviest rainfall associated with Henri is now inland. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding is a concern as the forward motion of Henri slows. Estimated highest sustained winds Friday was 75 mph.
Current tropical weather
As of 2:00 PM EDT Tropical Storm Henri was centered at 41.3 N / 71.8 W or about 40 miles SSW of Providence, R.I.. It was moving NW at 9 mph. Officially top sustained winds are estimated at 50 mph. Pressure was estimated at 991 hPa (mb).

Forecast models show Henri slowly moving across southern New England during the next 24 hours as it becomes extratropical.
