Tuesday Night Update

John will stay west of Baja

The Weather Situation
John is a cat 2 hurricane and will strengthen some during the next 24 hours before weakening over cooler water.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 3 PM MDT Hurricane John was centered at 18.7 N / 110.5 W or 295 miles south of the southern tip of the Baja. It was moving NW at 10 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 105 mph. Pressure was estimated at 969 mb.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
John will track NW over the next few days to the west of the Baja. The main effects will be increasing swell and locally heavy rainfall on the southern Baja of 1-3 inches.

John weakening

The Weather Situation
John is on a weakening trend over cooler water.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 3 PM MDT Hurricane John was centered at 22.0 N / 113.5 W or 240 miles WSW of the southern tip of the Baja. It was moving NW at 15 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 85 mph. Pressure was estimated at 979 mb.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
John will continue to track NW away from the Baja. The main effects will be swell and locally heavy rainfall on the southern / central Baja of 1-3 inches.
