I have too many stories Spike...... I was layed off for my 25th anniversary. :Taz: Sorry, but it still bothers me of what NBC did to MANY loyal employees some who had over 25 years experience and are still unemployeed.

No need to apologize. There are a lot of people without jobs right now. I imagine that it's hard not to think about the old job in a positive way when something like that happens.

I'm sorry, Rich... didn't mean to hit a nerve. Doesn't sound like the remaining crew over there, including Cantore are on your holiday card list. I imagine that NBC would do any of them the same way if and when the time comes. Society today doesn't have a sense of humanity, loyalty or morals/ethics to lean on. It is the way of the corporate world.

I got broomed three times from 2005 to 2008. The first time I spent nine years with a company and by all indications was a valued employee with great responsibilities until I walked in one day to begin work only to be locked out of my computer. I had just attended a work mate's wedding the weekend prior among a group of people who knew what was coming the following Monday. (I wondered why their behavior was forced- actually my wife picked up on it.) It's hard to not think about a business decision being personal when it rips you to the core- self worth, embarrassment, failure- not to mention the economic upheaval.
The next two stops were shorter, but the outcomes were similar. Now, as a grey beard, I'm viewed as "too old" with "antiquated skillset" to get back into my industry. I empathize with your bitterness and fight those demons daily. I currently am an independent insurance and investment rep in employment barren Michigan. I understand- maybe not w/25 years under me- but I still get it- and it is not fun.

Keep the faith.

I actually got a message from him several weeks ago via fb. I don't have animosity toward him - it's a great accomplishment for anyone. I must admit it is still tough to think of TWC at times in a positive way since what they did to me and many good friends. This shall pass though and time heals many wounds.

I don't blame you for being bitter towards NBC. Hard not to be upset about an employer rear ending your career.

I still think there are good people at TWC and, like him or not, Cantore is a well respected meteorologist. Glad to see you are still in contact. Making it 25 years anywhere is a monumental accomplishment in this era- although stepping on people to stay there tends to tarnish it. I hope there wasn't any carnage in his wake.

I agree, congrats to anyone who can work for 25 years at one place.

Spike, I should have mentioned that I still have a lot of friends at the weather channel. There are a lot of good people there still.
