Classes to take in high school to prepare for meteorology?

Postby Skibug » Tue Sep 08, 2009 10:04 pm

I have heard that it is good to take lots of math and science in high school if you want to go into meteorology in college. Is there anything more specific that I can find out to be prepared for college better?

I would certainly think that the more advanced math and science courses that you can take the better. Are you a student or just curious?

I know that meteorology requires lots of calculus. I believe that statistics would also help.

I believe there is a lot of physics involved too. Not sure about the other sciences.

Sorry about not getting to this question sooner. If you are interested in meteorology as a career you should take as much math and science in high school that you can. Calculus would be helpful to get you started in college. Try to take physics and chemistry also. Computer courses and statistics classes are good too. If you are interested in TV, take broadcasting classes if they are offered.
