Julia formed in the southern Caribbean near the ABC islands on the 6th of October. It strengthened into a hurricane before landfall over Nicaragua on the early morning of the 9th. It landfall along the coast near Laguna de Perlas in Nicaragua at 315 AM EDT. Maximum sustained winds at landfall were estimated to be 85 mph (NHC).
