Saturday Late Afternoon Update

Humberto north of the Bahamas

The Weather Situation
Humberto is still sheared, although the shear is decreasing. The low center is now under deep convection which will allow strengthening. Thankfully the heavy rain bands stayed north of the northern Bahamas, which were devastated by Hurricane Dorian several days ago.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 2:00 PM AST Humberto was centered at 27.1 N / 77.1 W or 40 miles north of Great Abaco. It was moving NW at 7 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 50 mph. Pressure was estimated at 1005 MB.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Humberto if forecast to be steered around the subtropical high keeping if well offshore of the Southeast coast. It will turn ENE in a few days taking it close to Bermuda as a hurricane by midweek.

Sunday Afternoon Update

Humberto strengthening

The Weather Situation
Humberto is strengthening and should become a hurricane by tonight. Shear is weakening to allow this. The U.S. will only see some higher wave action which will increase rip tides. Some rain bands are possible on the east central coast of Florida also.

As of 2:00 PM AST Humberto was centered at 28.9 N / 77.9 W or 180 miles NNW of Great Abaco. It was moving north at 7 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 65 mph. Pressure was estimated at 997 MB.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Humberto if forecast to be steered around the subtropical high keeping if well offshore of the Southeast coast. It will turn ENE in a few days taking it close to Bermuda as a hurricane by midweek.

As of 8:00 PM AST Humberto was centered at 30.3 N / 75.5 W or 645 miles west of Bermuda. It was moving ENE at 7 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 90 mph. Pressure was estimated at 966 MB.

Humberto may be a cat 3 hurricane before reaching Bermuda midweek.

Humberto moving away from Southeast

The Weather Situation
Humberto is clearing moving away from the U.S. Little effects over than large than normal surf will continue for the next day or two.

As of 2:00 PM AST Humberto was centered at 30.8 N / 72.9 W or 490 miles WSW of Bermuda. It was moving ENE at 9 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 100 mph. Pressure was estimated at 961 MB.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Humberto will pass close to Bermuda by Wednesday Evening. Strong winds, heavy rainfall and surf are likely.

Humberto will pass a little north of Bermuda

The Weather Situation
The eye on Humberto is clearly seen on Bermuda's radar. The eye center will pass to the north, but the effects of the southern eyewall would likely be seen either over or just north of Bermuda.

As of 2:00 PM AST Humberto was centered at 32.4 N / 67.2 W or 140 miles west of Bermuda. It was moving ENE at 16 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 120 mph. Pressure was estimated at 952 MB.

Humberto will continue into the north Atlantic Ocean and become extratropical over the next few days.
