Sunday Morning Update

Edouard a hurricane unofficially

The Weather Situation:
Edouard is a hurricane..... unofficially. I'm not sure why the hurricane center hasn't upgraded other than Edouard is well out to sea. It has a nice eye on satellite imagery which indicates at least 80 MPH. They will definitely upgrade at the next advisory time at 11 AM edt. I will refer to Edouard as a hurricane in this update and also have my own estimates of wind and pressure with this stronger system.

Current Weather:
As of 5 AM EDT / 5 AM AST Hurricane Edouard was centered at 24.0 N / 49.7 W or about 950 miles ENE of the northern Leeward islands. It was moving NW at about 14 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 85 mph (70 NHC). Pressure was estimated at 975 (992 NHC) mb.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Hurricane Edouard is expected to recurve east of Bermuda and will remain over open waters.

This will be the last update on Hurricane Edouard unless it poses a threat to land. It is expected to weaken by this weekend west of the Azores and possibly turn south again as an extratropical cyclone.
