Atlanta heat
I know that these numbers are as impressive as in Texas or Arizona, but still shows how hot it has been in atlanta this summer through August 11th...
90 degree days.... so 67 days of 90° or higher. The average is 35 days.
May - 6 days (average 1)
June - 24 days (average 8)
July - 27 days (average 13)
August - 10 days (average 10)
September - (average 3)
Hottest day 97° (twice)

After digging through some information this is what I came up with:
1. 1980 90 days
2. 2010 85 days
3. 1954 82 days

90 - 90 degree days is impressive when 35 is the average. I'm not sure if the record will be made for Atlanta this year though.

Re: Atlanta heat
Through today 76 days of 90 or above for Atlanta. That makes 76 days through the 21st and tied for 6th place. The record is still possible although 2nd or third most seems reasonable.

Re: Atlanta heat
Add two more days. 83. That makes third place. I checked the forecast and their may be another week of 90 +. the record of 90 days may actually be in jeopardy!

Re: Atlanta heat
The first three days in Atlanta were 90 + so that means 89 or one shy of the record. It's cool there today as the rain moves in. Could it be that the record won't get broken

Re: Atlanta heat
Atlanta did get one more 90 degree day, so I believe the record for the most 90 degree days in the season was tied.

Re: Atlanta heat
It's amazing to see a 85 days - 90 degree summer followed by a 90 days - 90 degree summer. It's interesting to see that only several years ago there were only 7!
