It's not really much differenct from any other work place. Some people will actually be hired on what they know and how they communicate. Many, many, more are hired because they or someone else they knew had a connection. That's how the business world works - networking. With TV it doesn't hurt if the guy is GQ or if the woman has the x-factor going for her too.

Yes, it would be nice if people were hired because of simply how well the can do the job. That will never happen though. Regardless, I look at it this way - God put us here for a purpose, so do the best you can wherever you go and whatever you do.
