New meteorology grads.... job market

Post by Florida Beach Gal »

I was wondering how many meteorology students that should be graduating this spring will be staying in school for a higher degree? It is an awfully tough job market for meteorology and many other careers at this time.

I would stay in school. I think that it would be a good idea to go to school a few more years for a higher or additional degree. Maybe the job market will be different by then.

I had briefly thought about staying in school when I received my B.S. degree. The job market was in a similar state back in the early 80s. I would stay in today.

I sorta glad that I'm not getting out this year. I HOPE the economy will be better in the next year or two.

You know it's tough out there when a student doesn't want to leave school, right? We'll on second thought, possibly not. I guess it just depends on how much fun school is!

I tell everyone make yourself as marketable as possible before getting out of school - meteorology degree or not. Computer science, foreign language, something that would make businesses choose you over another candidate.

My kids have advanced degrees. It costs more, but the job market is getting more competitive every day. A masters or PHD will eventually pay dividends...unless it's with health care - then who knows at this point!

I'm planning to go into engineering or something in the computer field. I'm looking at what the job market will be in several years from now.

I think that is a good plan Wild Banshe. Be more prepared than your competition.

Wild Banshe doesn't seem that wild. He has a good game plan.
