Tuesday Afternoon Update

Rosa forms west of Mexico

The Weather Situation
Rosa has formed and will likely strengthen into a hurricane soon.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 9 AM MDT Rosa was centered at 14.7 N / 108.0 W or 385 miles SW of Manzanillo, MX. It was moving WNW at 9 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 45 mph. Pressure was estimated at 1004 mb.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Rosa is forecast to make its way toward the northern Baja and eventually into the southwestern U.S. by early next week. There is the threat of heavy rainfall. Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah should keep track of this tropical cyclone for heavy rain.

Wednesday Afternoon Update

Rosa strengthens

The Weather Situation
Rosa is a hurricane but is not affecting Mexico except for increasing surf.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 3 PM MDT Rosa was centered at 16.5 N / 112.2 W or 465 miles SSW of Cabo San Lucas, MX. It was moving WNW at 10 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 80 mph. Pressure was estimated at 987 mb.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Rosa is forecast to make its way toward the northern Baja and eventually into the southwestern U.S. by early next week. There is the threat of heavy rainfall. Arizona and Colorado appear to be in the track of the heaviest rainfall now. Adjacent states may also get some showers and storms.

Rosa still strengthening

The Weather Situation
Rosa has strengthened and is on the verge of becoming a major hurricane.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 3 PM MDT Rosa was centered at 17.2 N / 112.4 W or 530 miles SW of Cabo San Lucas, MX. It was moving west at 12 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 105 mph. Pressure was estimated at 970 mb.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Rosa is forecast to make its way toward the northern Baja and eventually into the southwestern U.S. by early next week. There is the threat of heavy rainfall. .

Rosa

The Weather Situation
Rosa has maxed out at 140 mph as a category 4 hurricane. Its effects remain offshore. Only high surf is a concern.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 2 PM PDT Rosa was centered at 17.7 N / 117.8 W or 625 miles SW of Cabo San Lucas, MX. It was moving NW at 6 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 105 mph. Pressure was estimated at 955 mb.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Rosa is forecast to make its way toward the northern Baja and eventually into the southwestern U.S. by early next week. There is the threat of heavy rainfall.

Rosa much weaker

The Weather Situation
Rosa has weakened considerably compared to yesterday. Only high surf is a concern, but heavy rainfall will approach the northern Baja during the next 24 hours.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 8 AM PDT Rosa was centered at 20.5 N / 118.4 W or 545 miles SSW of Punta Eugenia, MX. It was moving north at 12 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 105 mph. Pressure was estimated at 968 mb.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Rosa is forecast to make its way toward the northern Baja and eventually into the southwestern U.S. by early next week. There is the threat of heavy rainfall.

Monday Midday Update

Rosa approaching the Baja

The Weather Situation
Rosa will make landfall later today and continue to weaken. The main threat will be heavy rainfall from northwestern Mexico to the U.S. southwest. Flash flooding is a concern with several inches possible.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 8 AM PDT Rosa was centered at 27.5 N / 116.5 W or 90 miles WSW of Punta Eugenia, MX. It was moving NNE at 12 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 45 mph. Pressure was estimated at 1000 mb.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Rosa will weaken as it moves into northwestern Mexico and Arizona.
