Saturday Afternoon Update

Oscar being sheared

The Weather Situation
Oscar has deep convection south of the center. There is another vorticy well to the SE of the center location.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 11:00 AM AST Subtropical Storm Oscar was centered at 27.3 N / 48.4 W or 1040 miles ESE of Bermuda. It was moving est at 13 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 60 mph. Pressure was estimated at 995 MB.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Forecast models take Oscar WSW and then recurve it to the NE into the northern north Atlantic over the next several days.

Sunday Evening Update

Oscar officially a hurricane

The Weather Situation
NHC has overestimated IMO. I personally don't agree with the assessment that a small eye has developed.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 5:00 PM AST Hurricane was centered at 25.7 N / 55.5 W or 725 miles SE of Bermuda. It was moving west at 16 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 75 mph. Pressure was estimated at 989 MB.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Forecast models take Oscar west and then recurve it to the NE into the northern north Atlantic over the next several days.

Monday Afternoon Update

Oscar strenghtens

The Weather Situation
Oscar has a very tiny central dense overcast. It developed a well defined eye and now IMO it is a hurricane as the hurricane center stated yesterday.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 11:00 AM AST Hurricane Oscar was centered at 25.8 N / 58.4 W or 590 miles SE of Bermuda. It was moving WNW at 7 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 85 mph. Pressure was estimated at 981 MB.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Forecast models take Oscar rapidly north, then northeast over the next few days into the northeastern Atlantic as it becomes extratropical.

Tuesday Afternoon Update

Oscar strenghtens

The Weather Situation
Oscar no longer has a visible eye and is starting to become elongated. This is the beginning of the transition to the extratropical phase.

Current Tropical Weather
As of 11:00 AM AST Hurricane Oscar was centered at 29.7 N / 57.7 W or 455 miles ESE of Bermuda. It was moving NNE at 14 mph. Top sustained winds are estimated at 100 mph. Pressure was estimated at 972 MB.

Tropical Weather Forecast:
Oscar will become extratropical over the next 24 hours as it moves into the northern north Atlantic.
