I'm sorry, Rich... didn't mean to hit a nerve. Doesn't sound like the remaining crew over there, including Cantore are on your holiday card list. I imagine that NBC would do any of them the same way if and when the time comes. Society today doesn't have a sense of humanity, loyalty or morals/ethics to lean on. It is the way of the corporate world.
I got broomed three times from 2005 to 2008. The first time I spent nine years with a company and by all indications was a valued employee with great responsibilities until I walked in one day to begin work only to be locked out of my computer. I had just attended a work mate's wedding the weekend prior among a group of people who knew what was coming the following Monday. (I wondered why their behavior was forced- actually my wife picked up on it.) It's hard to not think about a business decision being personal when it rips you to the core- self worth, embarrassment, failure- not to mention the economic upheaval.
The next two stops were shorter, but the outcomes were similar. Now, as a grey beard, I'm viewed as "too old" with "antiquated skillset" to get back into my industry. I empathize with your bitterness and fight those demons daily. I currently am an independent insurance and investment rep in employment barren Michigan. I understand- maybe not w/25 years under me- but I still get it- and it is not fun.
Keep the faith.
