SNOWMAGEDDON - MID-ATLANTIC BLIZZARD / FEB 5,6 2010

Post by Caribbean Traveler » Thu Feb 04, 2010 9:28 am

The weather models have been persistent in forecasting yet another big storm for the Mid-Atlantic. This time however, it may have not quite enough cold air to bring snow to eastern North Carolina and southern Virginia like last time. The focus will be in the Washington, D.C. , Baltimore, Philadelphia area Saturday. There is potential for another 1 - 1 1/2 feet of snow in these areas. If you remember these areas were crushed several weeks ago with 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 feet of snow.

Tennessee got hit pretty good with this last storm. Lots of snow. It looks like this one is going to be all or mostly rain.

Latest weather forecasts call for 2 - 2 1/2 feet of snow from western Virginia, Washington D.C., Baltimore to Philadelphia. Blizzard conditions are likely in these areas as the winds pick up. Global warming ? :chairhit:

:megaphone: Latest model runs give northern Virginia, to Washington D.C. up to south of Baltimore over 30" of snow! 2 1/2" inches of rain is predicted for Norfolk with 5" of snow at the end. It would be hard to say if it would actually accumulate that much after flooding rains.

Interesting to see how Boston has missed a lot of these snowstorms this year to our south. It doesn't matter how much snow falls here....we always go to school! :ashamed:

Snow totals up to 30 inches are now being recorded west of Baltimore. This will be the biggest snowstorm on record for Baltimore.....after a 2 foot blizzard in December. Two major blizzards in one years. Hello global warming are you there? :ashamed:

The areas that got the thundersnow during this SNOWMAGGEDDON had snowfall rates of 4-5" per hour. That's why areas between Baltimore and Washington D.C. had those 36-40" totals. Actually those heavy snow totals were just outside of D.C. not too far away from the Capitol.
