Mid-Atlantic coastal storm
The remnants of Ida's energy has transferred into a coastal storm. Norfolk, Virginia is gusting to 54 mph right now with heavy rain. Interesting to see that the coastal storm is having a greater impact than what was hurricane Ida.

As the storm marches up the coast it looks like eastern North Carolina and Virginia picked up similar amounts of rain to northern Alabama and Georgia. Widespread totals of 3-6" with isolated 8"+ amounts. Winds gusted to near 70 mph on the Virginia Capes thursday evening....much stronger that the 40-45 mph winds on the gulf coast with Ida.

Re: Mid-Atlantic coastal storm
What a nasty storm this was. Thanks to the winds we saw flood waters wrap around both sides of our house. I live on the water and with Hurricane Isabel we saw water flood most of our yard but stayed out of the house. This time the river came at us from the back and front yard. While official reporting stations had the water rise slightly less than Isabel, the flooding itself was worse for us. Our lowest level of the house flooded and so did our garage. Though I am only 18, I can say with some confidence that this was the worst storm I have ever experienced in my area. Rain totals reached 11in in my neighborhood.

We had rain and windy weather but no snow. So it was nothing special here.
