Masters of broadcast meteorology?
I have noticed that some weather people are touted to have a masters in broadcast meteorology. What the **** is that? It sounds like a degree made up for news people that got their bs degreee in journalism / whatever other major not related to meteorology. Am I right on this or not? Talk to me people.

Even though this is not really a laughing matter IMHO, it is funny the way you put it. Yes, you are probably right, but there has to be some core of meteorology in that program. I would like to hear from someone who actually has had a master's of broadcast meteorology to see what they say.

Re: Masters of broadcast meteorology?
I know a few people who have the master's in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi state. Generally speaking I think it's mostly for TV people who come from a journalism background. They go this route since it appears to be geared to those who are working and can take online school at the same time.

How important is it to have a master's degree for TV though?

Re: Masters of broadcast meteorology?
I have decided to go back to school for my masters degree. It is in geophysics - applied meteorology at Mississippi State. This is not the broadcast meteorology degree that this thread is about. I will finish in about two years if all goes well!

Contrary to popular belief, school can actually be hard at times.
