Why use different names for hurricanes around the world?

Why use different names for hurricanes around the world?
Why is it that there we use the name hurricanes, someone else typhoon, and some place else something different? Wouldn't it be easier to just call them all hurricanes?

I suppose that you are serious? Different culture different names.
