What's the weather like when traveling to Antigua and Barbuda?

Antigua and Barbuda are two islands of the Leeward Islands located in the eastern Caribbean Sea. Barbuda lies about 30 miles north of Antigua and is the smaller and least populated of the two islands. The Caribbean Sea is to the southwest side of the islands and Atlantic Ocean on the northeastern side. Both of the islands lack high terrain, especially Barbuda. Antigua's highest elevation is a little over 1300 feet at Boggy Peak. Barbuda's highest point is only near 150 feet. The lack of elevation plays a part in the low annual precipitation amounts. There is a risk from tropical cyclones during the hurricane season.





Rainfall
Antigua and Barbuda have a dry climate with about 40 inches of rain per year on average. Rainfall amounts increase somewhat in the higher elevations of Antigua. The wettest time of year occurs as tropical waves bring an increase in showers during hurricane season. Rainfall amounts total near five to five and a half inches during September through November on average. The driest time of year occurs from late winter to early spring where one to two and a half inches of rainfall occurs on the average month.

Temperatures
Temperatures on Antigua and Barbuda only vary slightly being in the deep tropics. Daytime highs range from the low 80's in the winter to upper 80's in the summer. Morning low temperatures vary in a similar fashion with lows in the low 70's during the winter and upper 70's during the summer. Record lows only drop to the low 60's in the winter. Record highs are in the low 90's during summer.
