Acapulco Travel Weather

What's the weather like when traveling to Acapulco?

Acapulco is a popular tourist destination on the southwest coast of Mexico. The monsoon trough becomes active causing an increase in tropical weather disturbances especially during late summer. High mountains nearby help build thunderstorms during the summer also. Low humidity and pleasant warm days dominate the winter months.

Acapulco Rainfall
Acapulco has a very distinct wet and dry season. The heaviest rains occur from June through the middle of October. The increase in rainfall is the result of summertime thunderstorms, as well as, from tropical systems that are sometimes close to the coast of Acapulco. It is not unusual for several inches of rain to fall in one day if a tropical cyclone is affecting the area. On average, 12 - 12 1/2" falls during late summer each month. Seven or eight days have thunderstorms on average. Conversely, an inch and a half or less of rainfall occurs each month during January through April.

Acapulco Temperatures
Temperatures are uniform throughout the year. High temperatures are near 90 most of the year. The winter months are an exception where they average in the upper 80's. Morning low temperatures are in the low to mid 70's for lows most of the year. The readings for lows are near 70 during the winter months.

Acapulco Travel Weather Summary
Travelers visiting Acapulco can expect warm temperatures all year long. The monsoon causes heavy rain through the summer and early autumn months. Avoid traveling during these months if you prefer dry weather. Occasionally tropical storms or hurricanes can affect the weather causing rough surf, heavy rain and gusty winds. The most likely time for this to occur is during August or September. Travelers are advised to stay updated with latest tropical weather information if traveling during the eastern Pacific hurricane season.
